This link is interesting. It compares the 1963 and 1991 versions of Richard Scarry's 'Best Word Book Ever'.

Great link. Thank you for posting it. We've got several Richard Scarry books from mine and DH's childhood, will rifle through them tomorrow!

I has RICHARD scarry's toy town, my mum still has it and DS loves playing with it. It is now over 25 yeara old, made of cardboard and going strong. I can't find any small world toys that are a patch on it for ds WHEN AT HOME!

wheresthehamster · 10/01/2008 22:38

Busy, Busy World was my favourite. I hope THAT hasn't been updated.

Botbot · 22/01/2008 13:59

Love it!

My Richard Scarry ABC Word Book from 1975 has a picture of a mouse enthusiastically smoking a pipe in a speedboat. Bet that's gone now.

suzywong · 22/01/2008 14:04

ah yes, the Bing Crosby Stylee mouse. Classic

southeastastra · 22/01/2008 14:07

I love Lowly worm with his jaunty hat.

Fillyjonk · 30/03/2008 17:43

I STILL want to know how come lowly worm is living with the cat family

its very peculiar

I have noticed that the sylvanian families bear more than a passing resemblance to richard scarry's creations.
