The other thing I have discovered recently which is in the same vein as Horrid Henry, but (I think) much better is the series of Jeremy James books by David Henry Wilson.

I HATE horrid henry - we had a cd in the car - read by Miranda Richardson with terrible drum sound effects. I chucked it out it was lost when I cleared the car out after our holiday
