I'm after some inspiration for my toddler please. My two year old loves being read to. He's generally very cuddly and loves to sit and read with me. We get through many many books, especially right now, as he has morning stories, pre nap stories, afternoon stories, bedtime stories plus others as and when he requests...
I'm starting to recite some of his favourites, so we need something new.
He's not old enough for some of the 'classic' children's literature that I would think of from my childhood. We have the Beatrix potter original series but he doesn't really have the attention span for a whole one.
Current favourites:
Julia Donaldson - all of.
Thomas the tank - we have the full collection.
Bear hunt/each peach pear plum
That's not my...

What else can you suggest please?

If he likes trains there is a loved series called The Little Red Train by Benedict Blathwayt, my boys have loved them from a similar age.

The Bizzy Bear series are wonderful

My son is the same age.... And we've been getting through a lot of books lately.

Have you looked at the books on the works. They have an offer of 10 books for £10. They are normally bundled in themes (pirates, farm animals, jungle animals, bedtime stories).

They are for 3+ but my son seems to sit through them. Out of the 20 that I've bought.... Probably 3 have been a bit too wordy and long.

riotlady · 07/05/2020 00:35

Another vote for Hairy Maclary, one of our faves!

We also enjoy Ten Little Babies, Wow Said The Owl and any of the Bear and Hare books by Emily Gravett (I say we because my 2 year old likes them and they don’t make me want to claw my own eyes out)

The Brambly Hedge books by Jill Barklem are lovely. Very simple stories but the artwork is gorgeous.
