Hi everyone,

My baby boy will be 1 year old in a few weeks time! He absolutely loves books and although he has quite a few we are reading the same stories over and over at the moment, I'd love to get him a few new ones for his birthday.

He has a book that makes animal noises and one with flaps to lift up and he really loves them both so I'd like to get some more interactive books.

I enjoy reading with him and thought instead of sifting through tons of reviews online I would ask the people I trust with baby related suggestions the most!

Which book/s did you love reading with your baby please?

Thanks so much!

Each Peach Pear Plum, Peepo and The Baby's Catalogue- all by Janet and Alan Ahlberg.
Anything that is rhyming - Giraffes Can't Dance was one my daughter got at 1 and she loved it. Can't remember the author though.
We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Micheal Rosen.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar .

The 'that's not my' books have been a hit with both of my girls.

The Julia Donaldson, What the ladybird heard, Snail and the Whale, Chocolate Moose for Greedy Goose have been a big hit with my one year old. Get the board book versions though or you'll be forever with the sellotape when he gets excited!

Where's Mr Dog Mrs Cat etc are good interactive books although they do piss me off. Why are all the female animals married? Why do the animals need gendering FFS. Possible I have just read them too many times!

Dear Zoo is fab. Also agree with pp... we're going on a bear hunt and the very hungry Caterpillar

Dd adores books.

Agree re the that's not my books.

She also loves the tickle book, axel scheffler so I got her another two from same people for Easter. A far, noise one and the bedtime bear.

Animal hide and seek usbourne books is another favourite.

Spot the Dog - any of these
Dear Zoo
Anything repetitive, Each Peach Pear Plum, as already mentioned, is lovely and also repeats. ABC books can fit here too if nicely illustrated (A is for… B is for… C is for…)

My 18 month old loves the Emma Garcia books - toot toot beep beep, Tap tap bang bang, tip tip dig dig.
