Anarchic humour for 9YO?

MrsCaplan · 10/04/2020 18:40

DD (9), average reading ability, (I think) LOVED LOVED LOVED 'The Mighty Frog' series by Guy Bass, and 'Natboff' by Andy Stanton. And 'Stinkbomb & Ketchup' series when slightly younger.
I think the common thread is the anarchic humour. If your DC also adored these, what else did they find funny and page-turning? Recommendations hugely appreciated...THANK YOU!

My DS(8) has absolutely loved the 13-storey treehouse and the rest of the treehouse series, he has found them hilarious. Just moved on to the Tom Gates series now.

Jamie Thomson’s The Dark Lord books are great.

Some great suggestions here! My 9yo DS loves graphic novels. Secret Coders series, Cleopatra in Space and Alex Ryder have all been read multiple times. Last Kids on Earth is another one.

Jiggy McCue books by Michael Lawrence (Poltergoose etc)

Bumaggedon series by Andy 'Treehouse' Griffiths. (Which reads much better than it sounds.)

MrsCaplan · 11/04/2020 16:13

Ooooh, such great stuff. Thank you!

Mr Gum, (just recommended on 3 different threads, I am not actually Andy Stanton - honest!)

AngryPrincess · 21/04/2020 18:32

Ah, Terry Pratchet kids stuff, Truckers is the first, but there’s Amazing Maurice too.

TheSandman · 21/04/2020 18:43

My kids had the hysterical giggles with the Mister Gum books.
