The first one I ever read as a child was The Mum Minder. That’s quite a short and easy read and would be a great introduction for a 10 year old I think!

Another one that I read around that age and LOVED was Bad Girls. I still have it in a cupboard somewhere! Same for The Suitcase Kid and The Bed and Breakfast Star. Smile

My 11 year old loves JW but I would advise checking the individual books are age appropriate- some are specifically for older ages / teenagers and all have quite a 'gritty' theme. I read mine 'lily alone' a few years ago which is a very bleak read about child neglect basically which wasn't that suitable for my 7 year old ( I ended up skim reading it and not letting her finish it!)
Mine particularly love all the hetty feather, Tracy beaker books and wave me goodbye is my daughters fave ever book.
