Can I have some world book day costume ideas please
Ideally for 3&4 year old boys and girls

OP posts:

A cardboard box painted red to look like Mr Strong, with holes for the head and arms.
A white nightdress (or an adult’s white shirt), pink on the cheeks and a gold crown to be Little Princess
Pirate’s hat (with a red feather), mask over the eyes and a black cape (you could use a bin bag) to be The Highway Rat. Possibly a sword and a hobby horse!

Welly boots, khaki/green clothing, flat cap and some plastic plant pots as Percy The Park Keeper. Stuffed woodland animal like a fox or rabbit if you have one!

Matilda - pile of books tied up with string, dress and cardigan you probably already have and a bow in hair!

@Ilovewillow

3 and 4 year olds don''t read Matilda.
It's meant to be a celebration of a child's favourite books. Dressing them up as a random character they've never heard of is hardly going to inspire a love of books, is it?!

Little Red Riding Hood if you have a little wicker basket.

Angelina Ballerina - white mouse ears, whiskers, tutu/pink dress over a white long-sleeved top and white tights

The Cat in the Hat - black leggings, black polo neck top, white face, whiskers, black tail, red scarf tied around the neck. A hat if you can find/make one

Girls ideas.. Sophie from the tiger who came to tea - blue sweater, purple pinafore (an adult vest will work at that age), blue bow in hair, white tights (you can paint the check on with fabric paint if you can be bothered but be wanted the child will step in the first puddle they see and the dye will run - bitter experience!) and black shoes and a toy tiger or big tin with a wrapper painted to say tiger food!
Debbie from the Mog stories - white turtle neck sweater, kilt, stripy socks and shoes and toy cat
A witch and go as meg from ‘meg and mog’

What books do the children currently enjoy?

Or if course the easy option - an animal onesie and go as any number of characters from animal stories!

Hi,

We made a video with three ideas here! Hopefully you'll find it helpful

My school isn’t dressing up this year, instead we’re decorating boiled eggs, so which characters could easily be done in egg form?
