If my 8 year old loves the Dog Man series what else might he love please?

My 8 year old boy has sort of slipped with reading (my fault). He loved the Dog Man series and read them with glee but after he finished those we haven’t really read enough. We just read Tim the Tiny Horse which he loved but I think is too young for him really.
I really want to get him ‘into’ reading. School seem to have completely stopped, he hasn’t been read with since he started in September. So I need to take control and promote a love of reading but don’t know what ‘cool’ or ‘exciting’ books for boys there are. He has said he doesn’t like Harry Potter.
Any good recommendations please?

We’ve just started The Genius Files with my 9yo, also loves dog man and a reluctant reader, he’s enjoying it, although I’m doing the reading Hmm

Barry loser
Mr Gum
Bad guys seconded
Storey treehouse books seconded
Captain underpants (obviously)
Comics (Beano, Phoenix)
Cartoons (Garfield, asterix)
These are what my 10 year old read when he was 8, still reads lots of them!

Oh and the inevitable wimpy kid!

I agree with treehouse story books
David Walliams books might also be worth a look.

My 8yo loved the Hamish books. They were a recommendation on here last Christmas and he’s thoroughly enjoyed them.

Brilliant!! I shall be doing a big shop today, some for Christmas but some for now. I don’t mind if I read to him, anything to just get the interest going again. And I’ll get a Beano, I had no idea they still printed this, I used to love this as a kid too!!!
Thanks so much for replying and giving so many ideas.

My 7yr old DS loves Dogman, he also enjoys Jeremy Strong books such as the 'My Brother's Famous Bottom' series, as well as Magic Treehouse, Mr Majeika and Barry Loser. He also really likes The Phoenix comic and I'm hoping this willl lead him to other comic style books in the future, like Asterix and Tintin, because I loved those as a child!

This site has lots of graphic novels for children aged 7-11 - and lots of books that could naturally follow on from Dog Man.
