A long shot- anyone remember a book about a willow pattern plate?

A book the teacher read to us at school in the late 80's, something about the world inside a willow pattern plate and maybe a tower?? I LOVED the book but no idea of author or title. Remember it being quite magical maybe. It's not 'Little Blue', much longer and more involved. Any ideas at all very gratefully received!

The Story of the willow pattern plate? That’s from the 60s I think.

Or a Willow pattern story but that’s pretty short.

It’s one of the stories in Mary Poppins- the children go into the plate to play.

It's a Chinese fable. I only know because the Chalet School theme one of their Sales around it!
