What next after Magic Treehouse?

DS is 7 in June and is currently working his way through the Magic Treehouse books. He’s got the set of 28 and is about halfway through since Christmas.
They are fairly easy reading but exciting stories.
Just trying to decide what to get him next. We are reading the first Harry Potter to him, these are for him to read to himself at bedtime.

The Jolley-Rogers series, by Jonny Duddle. I think the first one is the Jolley-Rogers and the Ghostly Galleon.
Or Fortunately The Milk by Neil Gaiman.
Or Astrosaurs, Or Cows In Action series, both by Steve Cole.
Or Spy Dog, and Spy Pup, series.

Moomins?

We’ve just taken The Far Away Tree etc out of our school library.... controversial?
What about the original Mary Poppins, Peter Pan or The Secret Garden if you want classics?
I tell my class that once they are ‘free readers’ they choose a book to read and then their parents choose the next one and so on- reading for pleasure as well as to develop their skill.
