Inspired by our nephew who loves animals and wildlife, my partner and I would like to try writing and illustrating a few childrens' picture books. Just for fun at this stage.
We'd like to tell stories that address societal and emotional issues through the world of animals.
Alternatively I'm quite interested in doing some that are inspiring for little girls, about girls that can achieve whatever they want to, but this might be harder through tales of animals. There seem to be a lot of books about historic mighty women as inspiration, but sometimes those historic stories aren't as relevant to the world girls grow up in today.
Are there any topics you wish were covered in picture books, and are there any you think should be avoided?
