I'm new on Mumsnet so firstly a big warm hello to everyone.
I'm a primary school teacher in Hackney (Yr 2) and we recently had in two very lovely local boys who have just launched their first independent children's book come into the class. They did a reading and illustration workshop which the kids absolutely loved, I can't explain how much it meant to them all.
They told me they were finding it hard getting the book out there so I suggested Mumsnet, as my friends have told me it has a huge supportive network, they felt a little uncomfortable with that as neither of them are Mums, so I said I'd do it for them.
So if you're looking for a beautifully illustrated and written children's book which encourages healthy eating and community and helps out local people I'd check it out. It's also a really big book, almost A3 sized and it comes with a recipe book so your kids can make healthy drinks like they do in the story.
Their website is: www.igthebook.co.uk
They also gave me their email and said they'd happily discuss with parents or kids advice on making children's books, illustration or any other questions they may have, which was lovely.

I'd really recommend having a look, the kids absolutely loved it. They said it' aimed at 4-8 year olds.
Thanks a lot for your time and I hope you enjoy the book
