Morning.

I have a soon to be 8 year old daughter and have been considering subscribing to a magazine for her birthday. She loves reading (and loves post! Grin) so I think it would be a hit.
Any recommendations greatly received. Thank you

The Phoenix is great.

DS really likes Aquila. He’s been getting it since he was 8 (9 now).

DS2 (8) adores the Phoenix. He’s still excited when it arrives and often reads through his older issues too.

Great thank you. Never heard of Phoenix. I wondered if Aquila was a bit homework-y and the novelty might wear off? I'll investigate further.

Ecokids
The week junior
Whizz pop bang
Nay geo kids?

The week junior. I think you get the first 6 copies very cheaply so can road test it. It's a weekly newspaper magazine for kids but has book tributes activities and quizzes. Also great to get a quick review of the news for adults.

My DD liked First News when she was 8 - it’s definitely a newspaper, but has a few puzzles etc in it.
Aquila is good, but was a bit of a stretch for my 7yo - he really loves Nat Geo kids.
