Blubber - Judy Blume - would you let your child read it?

Anyone remember Blubber? Was quite a tough read but was it ultimately a book that helped children to understand and deal with bullying?

My 10yo recently went through something minor at school and wondered if this would help her.

Yes - bullying is the theme and it's narrated from the point of view of a child who joins in bullying but then finds herself on the receiving end (if I remember rightly - it's been over 20 years Grin).

There's a fair amount of bullying in the Harry Potter books as well if she likes that sort of thing?

Yes, why not? My dd went through a Judy Blume phase a few months ago (year 6) and read a few, including Blubber. Just keep her away from Forever!!! (Unless she is the right age for it...)
