Thinking of getting these on subscription for a school library. Do your DC get either of these, and actually read them, or are they a bit of a waste of money?
Or does anyone have any other recommendations?

My school subscribes to National Geographic Kids and First News. My top tips would be:

  1. suggest staff use them as a Guided Reading resource or in literacy lessons. Relevant articles could be photocopied if there aren't enough copies for this. Upon receiving each new edition, leave it in the staff room for a couple of days for staff to see what's inside.
  2. notify children in assembly when each new edition gets put in the library. Perhaps pick a couple of articles to generate interest.
  3. get a display stand for the latest edition.
