Anime or graphic novels for a 9yr old boy who doesn't like reading standard-format novels?

Is anyone able to suggest good entry books/annuals that I can add to my son's Christmas stocking? I think he may enjoy this format more than regular novels, and I'd like to encourage the quiet reading habit in whichever format works for him. Thanks Smile

Have a look at the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. They were very popular when I worked in a school library.

Alex Rider stories come in a graphics version. Ds loved them before he was up to reading the full length ones.
He also has loved Tintin.

The Phoenix Brothers do some fantastic graphic novels for that age group.
