I'm a nurse, and some years ago I worked with a woman who I think could be Pippi Longstocking grown up.
She was a very small older woman, she always worked with the less acute but needing help elderly patients. She managed to get these ladies up, washed dressed, hair done etc seemingly by herself.
After lunch, when we would help them back to bed it always needed at least two of us or a hoist.
The biggest giveaway was when she brought us a Christmas tree that she'd dug up by herself from the forest she lived in ( she had forest rights).
I never saw her lift a horse, didn't have a Swedish accent either but I'm still convinced.

But the Little Prince died! How can he come back? He is forever young. This is like saying that Peter Pan stayed with the Darlings, and grew up and went to work on the 0756 every morning with his rolled-up umbrella and bowler hat. No, no, no! That's just plain wrong!

Anyway, I always thought that Laura Ingalls would have had lots of children and grandchildren, and become like her paternal grandmother: got on with the jobs as necessary, but always happy to kick up her heels and have fun. I was so glad to discover that she was a real person, and so sad to discover that she never became a grandmother.

Read tiger came to tea this evening. Sophie, she would be in her 60s? I imagine she never married, enjoys painting and gardening.

George from The Famous Five would be an intrepid reporter. War zones probably. She would be Lix Storm from The Hour basically.

I imagine Mildred Hubble probably grew up to marry a nice wizard, had a few children, cut her plaits into a more sensible 'mum' hairstyle, but is still harassed, running late, tripping over her shoelaces and wrapping presents for birthday parties up whilst perched on her broomstick outside the party venue just before picking her DC up

I always imagined that Connie from The Folk of The Faraway Tree went home and told her parents of her adventures, who didn't believe her. When she kept insisting it was true, she was not allowed back. She grew up very insecure and never quite believed what she saw. She stayed at home, remained single and was never really happy....until she ended up back in the woods in her 60s, found the tree, realised it was all true and lived the rest of her life with moonface :)

asuwere - I also always imagined one of the children returning to the Enchanted Wood in their old age - although I didn't include the Moonface romance . Most likely the Enchanted Wood is now a housing estate.

Carrie from carries war would have become an eminent historian.

Enid Blyton:
Anne would become head of a primary school. Much loved by all her pupils.
George would join the army and be desperate to do all the men could do.
Dick would be a bit of a fun uncle figure that no one quite knows what he does but he always has plenty of money. Either a wheeler dealer or a spy!
Julian would be an MP.

Jack Trent and Philip Mannering would be explorers.

Arthur Ransome (bearing in mind they would grow up into WWII).
John and Roger would be in the Navy
Susan would be a nurse and be in the WI.
Titty would be a journalist abroad.
Nancy would join the WAAF
Peggy would be a nurse.
Dick would be at Bletchley Park
Dot would be a journalist in London, also in the WVS (not WRVS until later)

David-I think he was training to be a lawyer
Peter-she starts in a riding stable. I imagine her going on to do something for vulnerable children-maybe she sets up Riding for the Disabled?

Jon-I think continues in Academia. Never gets to professor level as he's too interested in doing the research and not enough in money chasing.
Penny is divorced for the third time and wondering whether to set up her own mobile spa company. She swears (for the third time) not to flirt with anyone ever again.

Dickie is a journalist for the Clarion
Mary works at Battersea Dogs' Home.

Tracey Beaker would grow up to write childrens books and have a house full of foster children, many of who would go on to be adopted by her. She would have chosen not to pursue acting as it would take her away from the house too much, but her writing could be done when older children were in school and younger children napped, and once the house was quiet of a night. She would specialise in children who were hard to place for any reason

I think topsy and Tim would grow up to lead chaotic lives rebelling against their perfect home life!

I think the little prince would grow up to be like Professor Kirke in the Chronicles of Narnia, sitting quietly in the library watching the magic unfold

I think Christopher Robin would have become an architectand Charlie Brown own a burger van

Katie Morag would go to the mainland for university and never return to that claustrophobic little island where everyone knows everyone's business :)

All the marina kids would be dead in the 2nd world war and in Aslans beautiful narnia do ever - sob. When I read a lot of them I do wonder if they aren't already dead to be honest. ....

Nancy Drew would have married one of the Hardy Boys and started a super family-PI business.

Harry Potter would grow up to be the Headmaster at Hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry, Hermione to be the Minister of Magic, and Ron to be the owner of a new pub come jokeshop in Hogsmeade. Neville Longbotton would be the new David Attenborough of the wizard if world and Draco Malloy would take Alan Sugar's place in the boardroom...

The Little Prince may not be around anymore, but the aviator would use what he has learnt to write "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy". (Yes, he's already grown up, but he can do a little more growing)

Horrid Henry would invent a revolutionary new cleaning product - an all-in-one shampoo/soap/shower gel/toothpaste.

Tracy Beaker would become a mega-successful journalist, and adopt loads of kids.

The Famous Five kids (and dog) would form a pop band called "Five Star", and the Secret Seven would travel back in time to the old west and become the 'Magnificent Seven' (they're clever enough to invent a time machine, I think)

George Kranky would be CEO of a pharmaceutical company and create all the marvellous medicine he likes, and toothless Charlie would visit schools advising children against eating too many chocolates & sweets!
