From picture book giant Oliver Jeffers and typographic artist Sam Winston comes a magical and unforgettable new story - which will encourage readers of all ages to question, explore and imagine.

A Child of Books tells the tale of a little girl who sails a raft across a sea of words and invites a little boy to come away with her on an adventure through a land of stories.

The book uses Oliver’s signature handwriting and artwork together with Sam’s typographic landscapes, shaped from printed extracts of 42 classic books and lullabies.

To celebrate the publication of A Child of Books, just tell us the book (or books) that first made you or your child love reading. Post your answer here for a chance to win a signed copy of the book, a limited edition print and tote bag, plus a brilliant book caddy to store your books at home.

The tiger that came to tea is consistently my daughter's favourite book. Not sure why, but the road when they walk to a cafe looks a little like one locally. Also we have to make a very loud "owp" noise when he eats all the cakes. I love seeing all her pre-reading skills develop - lining up her toys and "reading" to them

A Bit Lost and Hooray For Fish were the first books my dd asked for again and again. She loves books now and her brother is just starting to get into them.

At the moment
anything with Dragons

Winnie The Pooh and The Secret Garden.

DS1 it was Harry Potter that really got him loving reading, when I would find him reading in bed late at night just needing to find out what happens. DS2 will read anything, loves to escape into books, I think probably Danny Champion of the World was his first real love for a book. For me it was Enid Blyton - my user name is from my favourite of her books.

Enid Blyton gave me the love of reading, I think it is important to get children interested in books from an early age.

I loved Rita the Rescuer, it was the first book I could read by myself (although I suspect it was from memory!)

DD loves Whizz! Pop! Granny, Stop! (or Granny Pop Stop as she calls it)

For me it was the Secret Seven and The Worst Witch. My daughter really got into reading through Diary of a Wimpy Kid

I'm not sure I can remember that far back! But I loved reading (still do but sadly don't have much time these days) and went to the library every week. The earliest books I can recall are the Hardy Boys!

My elder DS has listened to stories since he was very small so he has ALWAYS loved having stories read to him. He particularly likes books with a rhyme of rhythm to the words so most of the Julia Donaldson's have been particular favourites and also the Hairy Mclairy books. He is also a typical boy and likes anything with dinosaurs! My youngest loves anything with flaps, buttons that make a noise or which involve making silly noises. Dinosaur Roar is a favourite at the moment as I pretend to gobble him up a the end.

For myself I really learned to appreciate books when I could read them for myself - I liked anything that involved animals and remember particularly enjoying reading Bambi and The 101 Dalmations.

I used to love the puddle lane books, I would get my mum to read a different one every night before bed.

My son loves the Usborne Young Puzzle Adventures books. They are great to read together and he loves working out the puzzles in them. He has lots of different ones and always chooses one of these for his bedtime story.

OdinsLoveChild · 04/10/2016 10:06

David Walliams The Boy in the Dress.
My DS really didn't like books until this was given to him as a gift by my Grandparents. They asked him to read some to them which he did and couldn't put the book down until he finished. He has since read all the other books by David Walliams and has a bookcase full of books that he is working his way through. It was almost like a light went on when he read that. He likes Terry Pratchett at the moment.

Enid Blyton was always the books that remind me of my childhood and the first books I remember reading on my own. I've introduced them to my children and they both love them

Dessallara · 04/10/2016 21:08

It all started with her first set of Peppa Pig books :)

Rigbyroo · 04/10/2016 21:11

I always enjoyed reading but I remember the joy of getting lost in a book when I first read Charlotte sometimes, I will never forget it.

sarsar123 · 04/10/2016 21:12

My boys love Julia Donaldson's books. Such fantastic stories. My eldest is now reading Tom Gates stories. I even took him to one of her book signing.

Gill81uk · 04/10/2016 22:00

I think it would be books my mum read to me as a child. The ones that specifically stand out for me are when we read Enid Blyton's Mr Twiddle. I remember us both crying with laughter at the scene where he got dressed in the dark and went out wearing the bin on his head and the poker as his waking stick!
