My two love the treehouse series, when I can hear giggling from the next room I know which books they are reading! DS also loves;

Timmy Failure
Anything which makes him laugh and has pictures along with the text is a big hit.
He also really loves non-fiction series like Horrible Histories/Science/Geography and his favourites Murderous Maths - again funny but also informative. He really enjoyed the Maths Quest series of puzzle books.
DD is a bit younger but has loved Jeremy Strong's series about My Brother's Famous bottom!

My two have kind of followed in my footsteps, because I still have a lot of my own books from childhood.

DD likes Secret Seven and Famous Five because she thinks they are ancient. She does enjoy the Barry Loser series because it's hilarious though.

DS is still working his way through the Roald Dahls. He likes them because they are beautifully written, and he loves the new words!

They do love collecting a series of books, and seem to prefer them to individual one off books!

DS loves the Spy Dog (& Puppies / Cat) series.
Also the Jeremy Strong books for their humour. And Terry Deary's historical novels (not the Horrible History ones) for their great adventure story lines.

Mine are currently reading the Famous Five series.

They enjoy the adventures and the way that a group of 10 & 11yr-old children are allowed to go out and do whatever they like. They are fascinated by the lack of technology and how different (and short!) the stories would be if the characters had mobile phones. They also get the giggles when reading some of the old-fashioned phrases out loud. Thankfully the phase of aiming Famous-Five-inspired insults at each other passed jolly very quickly.

My DD is another Blyton fan.
She is currently working her way through the Five find-outers books as well as the Famous five (always has two or three books on the go!)
She is also enjoying the adventure books by Helen Moss

She says she enjoys them because they are about real children being detectives!

Both two (both girls) adore any Jacqueline Wilson and are also very keen on the Daisy Meadows series Rainbow Magic and Rainbow Fairies. The oldest one (7) has just read and loved The Diamond Brother series by Anthony Horowitz, ANY Horris Henry. They also got bought a children's book by Alexander McCall Smith called The Bubblegum Tree which was a huge hit! David Walliams always good fun and amuse parents too. When I was a young girl I used to enjoy a series called The Babysitters Club and also The Three Detectives. Does anyone know if they have modern versions?

I have 8 grandchildren who I love reading to but most importantly i insist on reading to them. I cultivated my 3 children's love of reading by beginning during pregnancy. I would sit in my rocket and read stories from Hans Christian Anderson to them. Before age 1 I enrolled each child in several book clubs. Thrir books wete well loved by the time each child left home.

I want my grandchildren to experience the travel, fantasy, adventures, and excitement my children experienced through books as children and as book lovers now.

My family y adore Enid Blyton series classic books always

My daughters loved reading Beverly Cleary. They had all the sets. Now i have a grandson who loves the Fear Street Books by R.L.Stein and all the Happy Potter books.

Mr Gum was loved. The Famous Five was a surprise favourite too (it seemed too dated to me as a child).

Now it's Charlie Higson's The Enemy series that is in favour, and I approve of that

My son has a roald dahl collection which we love to read together.

My son, just 8 loves Diary of Wimpy Kid and Frankie's Magic Football. Recently he has fallen for The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer.

My dd1 has just started to read, but already advanced to the 'Horrid Henry' series. She thinks that they are fantastic. ..takes them everywhere with her, even keeps them under her pillow. They are very entertaining, but I am not sure about her calling ds1 and dd2 'worms'.

My boys favourite series is the Harry Potter books. They think they are going to get the letter inviting them to go there for secondary school

Jacqueline Wilson books are the favourite.

I've not heard of these, DS1 would love them! He will read literally anything. He ploughed his way through Harry Potter (all 7) in just over 3 weeks, he's read all of the Darren Shan books, he's now on Skullduggery Pleasant. He also likes Tom Gates, anything by David Walliams, etc and is eagerly eyeing up my Swallows and Amazons set. I also want to hand over my CS Lewis collection.

He is 8, and it's been wonderful to see his love of books grow. It seems to be the one thing he has got from me, and it's brilliant!

The following series of books are just so popular --> 'Asterix' and 'Tintin' - timeless action, adventure and comedy all in one, 'Diary Of A Wimpy Kid' for just outright unadulterated laughs; and 'Goosebumps' for the coolest scary books out there.

Ds1 (13) has just started reading Game of Thrones 👍🏻

My sister lives in Canada and sent my eldest (who has just turned 8) the first book in the Never Girls series. She was hooked straight away, so my sister sent her the next 3 for Christmas. Since then I've been sourcing them from Amazon. She also was lucky enough to meet the author of the Barry Loser books when he went to her school, and found those books very funny! She's also into Harry Potter books - a real little bookworm. She'd love this prize!

....and how could I forget the wimpy kids books!?

DS1 loves the Geronimo Stilton series - his comforter and best friend from Day 1 is a toy mouse, and he has collected a whole family of toy mice. His favourite pastime is imaginary play, and making up all kinds of scenarios for his plush toys. He loves the Geronimo Stilton books, because they remind him of the adventures he imagines for his own mice!
