Reading books for able 5yo

Any suggestions on fun books for a 5yo able reader?
My dd is a capable reader but if we have to endure another Oxford reading tree or biff chip and kipper book I won't cope!

We got a few of the 'Step into reading' series for my DS. They do lots of popular characters such as Thomas the tank engine so were popular with him.

You can get early reader horrid Henry or Rainbow magic which are good and are the start of chapter books. My girls loved them before progressing onto the normal rainbow magic type books.

M and s do first readers that are fairy tales. So Cinderella, hansel and gretel etc. My 5 year old dd loves them. Think you can also get a similar set the through the book people.

Local library should have a section for early readers.

Songbirds series slightly more interesting than ort but I would just get her reading 'normal' children's books and read together so you can help decide any slightly harder words. Ladybird also do some basic fairy tales in a slightly easy reader format.

One of mine loved Roald Dahl at that age
Twits , Fantastic Mr Fox , Matilda are good to start with
Another wasn't so keen on reading but loved Enid Blyton's Famous Five once he'd got going!!
