Fairy tale fun from the creators of The Giant of Jum!

When a kind young boy helps a strange-looking bird, a beautiful friendship forms. But what these two friends don't realise is that one is a young knight...and the other a young dragon! What will they do when they discover they are enemies and destined to FIGHT?

The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight is a bold, funny and heartwarming story from a perfect picture book pairing; the uniquely talented Elli Woollard and award-winning Benji Davies.

Can knights and dragons ever be friends?

Share your child's favourite fairy tale to win one of TEN sets of Elli Woollard books including The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight, The Giant of Jum and Swashbuckle Lil The Secret Pirate!

It was always Cinderella in our house......

kateandme · 10/05/2016 14:15

deff Cinderella or any of the ladybird fairytale books in that old style print.

MummyBtothree · 10/05/2016 14:43

'The three Billy Goats Gruff' has always been a favourite with my three boys.

SandyAndy · 10/05/2016 17:28

On World Book Day DS dressed up as the gingerbread man. He loves this story and looked good enough to eat in his costume!

BathshebaDarkstone · 10/05/2016 18:50

Both my DC say Three Little Pigs.

AllThePrettySeahorses · 10/05/2016 19:46

It's got to be The Enormous Turnip, with all the actions including me falling on my bum Hmm.

After that, Snow White and Rapunzel and Frozen obs

Claraoswald36 · 10/05/2016 19:54

Dd1 favourite is rapunzel. I've had to read a dozen different versions of it over and over she just loves it.
After that it would be the snow queen.
The author Berlie Doherty did a series of retell ing fairy tale books we found in the library. Dd1 adores them and isn't scared by original versions.

FeelingSmurfy · 10/05/2016 19:54

Three Billy goats gruff if the voices are done properly Smile

I didn't think it was a fairy tale but it's in a book of fairy tales Smile so I guess it is

Coffeechick · 10/05/2016 19:56

My daughter lives rapunzel, with her long golden locks. It's something she adores

Feelingblue222 · 10/05/2016 19:58

My 5 year old DS absolutely adored the magic faraway tree series. Hard work to read though!

mostlyexhausted · 10/05/2016 20:16

My two's favourite fairy tale is Jack and the Beanstalk - simple reason being that it is the one I tell without needing a book, so it's and anywhere story - on a plane, in a caravan on a wet weekend in Wales, in a traffic jam, snuggled up in the dark.

Theimpossiblegirl · 10/05/2016 20:22

DD1: Beauty and the Beast.
DD2: Sleeping Beauty.
Me: Snow White and Rose Red (really hoping Disney don't spoil this one for me!).

bambooleaves · 10/05/2016 20:42

Both my daughters love red riding hood. We often have to look out for Wolves whilst in woods!!

Thecatknowsshesboss · 10/05/2016 20:42

DD favourite is the Magic Faraway Tree as we've read three chapters a night since she got the three books at Christmas. Me and DH are bored completely of reading it now but she thinks it's wonderful (as admittedly I did too when I was 6 or 7).

amysmummy12345 · 10/05/2016 21:29

Rumpelstiltskin here with my 2 year old DD! When we read it she has to do the repeated refrain "that's not my name!" We're always doing it at random times of the day 😊

Choccybadger · 11/05/2016 01:49

The Tinderbox is one of my DDs favourites. She's 7.
She also loves The Tin Soldier which is sad but beautiful.
We are working through the original Grimm tales. It may be too scary to carry on

Dinu2013 · 11/05/2016 08:39

My son who will be 3 years on Sunday, 15th loves reading any book...... He does not have a favourite story yet. He he loves to hear me read 'The Owl and Cat' every day when he goes to bed. He enjoys the book more when I ask him 'where are the stars? can you see a boat? how many fish can you see? and it goes on and on for good 20-30 minutes which we both enjoy and love and it gives me extra bonding time with him.

Ntinyn · 11/05/2016 09:39

Her favourite fairy tale is Little Red Riding Hood.

crazymammy · 11/05/2016 09:43

My 5 year old DD absolutely LOVES The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. Does that count as a fairytale? The look on her face when Aslan came back to life was an absolute picture! Smile

WhizzPopper · 11/05/2016 10:10

My 3 year old loves the three little pigs and always does the huffing and puffing.

Rigbyroo · 11/05/2016 17:46

My dd loves hansel and gretel, she resells it and acts it out all the time!

Jitterybug · 11/05/2016 21:04

My ds (5) loves the gingerbread man, although gets tearful at the ending, every single time!

JenniferAnistonsHair · 12/05/2016 00:59

My 4 year old loves so many books. I suppose fairytale wise, he likes Goldilocks & The Three Bears, Jack & The Beanstalk & The Gingerbread Man... 🐻🌱🏃

grizzlymoo12 · 12/05/2016 11:15

My 3 year old daughters favourite fairy tale is the one we made up together the other day.
One day Little A and her brother F were on her parents bed when they flew into dinosaur land.
There were big teethy dinosaurs that went “rooooooooooarrr” which made A and F giggle… and then they saw the long green scarey crocodiles that went “snaaaaaaaaaaaaap”!
Along the path they came across a big blue elephant that lifted it’s trunk and went “pwaaaoooor”. It was blocking their path and they had to shoo it away… “hip hip away” said A…”hip hip away” and the elephant ran away.
Then a big feathery bird flew down and it flapped it wings and made A fall over. Luckily the Monkey doctor was about and came and put some tippy tape on her leg which made it much better.
A and F decided they liked the Monkey doctor the best and they lived happily ever after…

Currently it's the gruffalo. We read it, we watch it on tv, we listen to it in the car, I recite it to her and have even recited it over Skype when I was away. I am WORD perfect and she's started to anticipate the words and make appropriate sounds. She's 2 but she only says about 20 words. Now she says '(s)nake', '(gr)uff(a)lo' too. This is number 3 so i'm a bit gruffaloed out but she loves it so much i don't mind (too much)
