Fairy tale fun from the creators of The Giant of Jum!

When a kind young boy helps a strange-looking bird, a beautiful friendship forms. But what these two friends don't realise is that one is a young knight...and the other a young dragon! What will they do when they discover they are enemies and destined to FIGHT?

The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight is a bold, funny and heartwarming story from a perfect picture book pairing; the uniquely talented Elli Woollard and award-winning Benji Davies.

Can knights and dragons ever be friends?

Share your child's favourite fairy tale to win one of TEN sets of Elli Woollard books including The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight, The Giant of Jum and Swashbuckle Lil The Secret Pirate!

This competition will close and we will announce the ten lucky winners on this discussion thread on 6 June.

my daughters favourite has always been Billy goats Gruff , I think its more the funny voices than anything.

glenka · 09/05/2016 20:44

Little Red Riding Hood is the favourite in our house.

allybird1 · 09/05/2016 21:08

My kids love Hansel and Gretel. Whats not to like about eating a house made out of sweets. They love pretending to be skipping through the woods and finding a cottage made out of treats..Although the bit about the cage and the oven is a tad frightening.

lottietiger · 09/05/2016 21:17

Another fan of goldilocks and the three bears here..we love doing the Bears bowls of porridge in different voices. Another favourite is the emporers new clothes.

hanliying · 09/05/2016 22:13

Definitely Snow White

loosechange · 09/05/2016 22:41

Tricky, they have moved through a series of favorites with age, but The Three Little Pigs and The Troll have been firm favourites with all my children.

milfontes123 · 09/05/2016 22:48

My son, 4 years old loves Roald Dahl the twits and knows all the julia Donaldson stories by heart and tells them to his little brother (3 months old)

emmfurn · 10/05/2016 07:43

My daughter loved Cinderella which was a bonus as she would help me clean and we would pretend to be her ;)

cathisherwood · 10/05/2016 08:29

My little ones love the three billy goats gruff. We go out in the countryside a lot and whenever we come to a bridge we look out for the trolls and retell the story doing a lot of stomping as we pass over the water

webster147 · 10/05/2016 09:53

My 4 year old little girl loves listening to fairy tales but her favourite is The Princess & The Pea.

nct73 · 10/05/2016 10:12

Although a huge fan of the Claude series of books, the story book that we have read the most is "If I Ran The Circus" by Dr Seuss. However his favourite book ever is "You Choose" by Nick Sharratt. He loves all the intricate pictures and can really string out story time.

EDisFunny · 10/05/2016 10:15

My DS likes Jack and the Beanstalk but told from the POV of the giant!

cavylover · 10/05/2016 10:24

The Letter For The King by Tonke Dragt which I would recommend for slightly older children and adults too

My DD(4) is terrified of fairy tales if I read them to her, but loves it if I make them up! She can't stand the suspense and since I'm awful at storytelling, there's none!

FranksBobot · 10/05/2016 10:59

Dd 10 favourite fairytale is Sleeping Beauty and has been for as long as I can remember. She was delighted to see the local panto version last year and I'm hoping to take her to see the ballet soon.

Dd2 (16months) loves listening to Three Billy Goats Gruff. Probably something to do with my amazing troll voice Grin

Emrob86 · 10/05/2016 11:02

My daughter loves the Gruffalo's Child but I don't know if that counts as a fairy tale! :) She also love Alice in Wonderland.

mpr2000 · 10/05/2016 11:33

The Saint George Legend!

Teacupkat · 10/05/2016 11:41

My dd loves Snow White, she has my old Dick Bruna copy from when I was a child, slightly battered and seen better days (like me!) but still magical

Ratbagcatbag · 10/05/2016 12:08

My daughter absolutely loves Rapunzal, and although not a fairy tale Room on the Broom is fab, she's 3 and she finishes off the words in the books with me. We love reading together and we always sneak extra books at bedtime. :)

Eyre89 · 10/05/2016 12:36

The three little pigs and goldilocks and the three bears are my ds favourite. Anything with animals will please him.

asuwere · 10/05/2016 12:42

My DC like a different story every night, and we haven't don't a lot of traditional fairy tales. Three little pigs is probably the closest they have to a favourite.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 10/05/2016 13:01

DD1 loves the story of Rapunzel. She really enjoys the Rapunzel, wash your hair! and Kitty Lacey Rapunzel stories too. I think it's the long hair that appeals to her.

She also loves the tale of the gingerbread man.

Wilberforce2 · 10/05/2016 13:51

My little girl is 2 and absolutely loves Rupunzel, we read it quite often before bed and end up both shouting at the top of our voices "Rupunzel, Rupunzel let down your hair"!!

Apart from that it would be the Three Little Pigs which makes her all squealy with the fear of the wolf but not enough that she wants me to stop reading!
