What sort of thing does she like? Some are adventure, some fantasy and some school stories.

My DD loved the school ones, but wouldn't touch the famous five. Depends on what type of stories she likes.

My dd read them in this order

Naughtiest girl in the school
secret seven
Malory towers
St Claire's
The 'R' mysteries
Famous Five
..... Of adventure (ship of adventure etc)

I loved The Famous Five when I was a kid (albeit younger)

I believe Malory Towers is recommended for that age too?

Malory Towers

Mallory Towers.

Another vote for Malory Towers.

I also loved the Five Find Outers at that age. They're like Agatha Christie for children.

Malory Towers, I loved them at that age. Recently reread them and really enjoyed the nostalgia!

Daisysbear · 09/12/2015 14:43

I re-read them recently too Pointless. I thought they'd seem very trite and silly after so long, but they were hugely nostalgic and enjoyable. Smile

What about the Magic Faraway Tree ones? Or the Children of Cherry Tree Farm.

Another vote for Mallory Towers too.

I loved them. I reread the Famous Five every few years.
