I think, from reviews on here and my DD's (she's 11) taste in books, that she would enjoy this author.
Where's a good place to start?
She likes Studio Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle film - I was wondering about the trilogy that starts with that.
Or something else?

Howl's Moving Castle is great (not so keen on the sequels) but is very different to the film. Dogsbody is probably my favourite of hers but also loved The Homeward Bounders, The Eight Days of Luke and Archers Goon. Also Fire and Hemlock but she may be a little young for that one yet. Has she read Susan Cooper?

'The Ogre Downstairs' is one of my favourite books ever, not just of hers or even as a children's book, it's just very very funny and thoughtful.

Not heard of Susan Cooper. Will look her up, thanks.
She enjoys Michelle Paver.

My first DWJ was Power of Three, which I still love. Second the rec for Susan Cooper - read The Dark is Rising in the run up to Christmas!

Another vote for Susan Cooper! Also consider (if she hasn't already read them:)

Wolves of Willoughby Chase series by Joat Aiken
