Hi, I am new to all this. Could anyone offer advice on age suitability for this book? Could a 12 year old read it? Many thanks :)

Definitely

Depends on 12 year old! Extremely atmospheric and tense and the ending still makes my hairs stand up!

Thank you for your replies. The reviews online (by adults) mostly say the book is extremely scary (and a great read!), so I'm wary, my DD is not street wise. She's read the Hunger Games etc., but nothing that sounds like this. Wish I hadn't downloaded it to her Nook Confused

But its not graphic or gratuitous.
I was reading Dennis Wheatley and Harold Robbins at 12.

It certainly isn't graphic, and it's beautifully written. But it's disturbing and eerie, and would certainly have upset my DD at twelve. Best leave it for a few years, I would say.

This was on my Gcse syllabus and we covered it in year 10
