Our delightful British Summers, whilst enjoyable, don't exactly guarantee a long stretch of sunny days. But in true British stiff-upper-lip spirit, we want you to share with us your best family games and activities to enjoy on a rainy summer day.

Little Tiger's fantastic selection of new books is all you need to enjoy a long holiday of great family reading, whether your little 'un is intrigued by the glowing green Poo In The Zoo or wants to know how to get No More Cuddles when it’s all a bit too much.

The best suggestion will win a bundle of five Little Tiger picture books and a Just For Tiny People Teepee (pictured) – a perfect package to enjoy inside or out. Whether it’s board games or den building, we want to hear what you get up to so we can help inspire fellow Mumsnetters for the next rainy day this summer holiday!

You can explore more fabulous books and stories to share at www.littletiger.co.uk and to discover magical hideaways for your own tiny people visit www.justfortinypeople.com - Mumsnetters can get 10% any order at JFTP when they quote Newbigperson10 at the checkout.

Prize Package:
One Magical Teepee from Just for Tiny People
Copies of:
Poo In The Zoo by Steve Smallman and Ada Grey
More! by Tracey Corderoy and Tim Warnes
No More Cuddles by Jane Chapman
Pirates in Pyjamas by Caroline Crowe and Tom Knight
Katie McGinty Wants A Pet by Jenna Harrington and Finn Simpson

This competition is sponsored by Little Tiger, and closes on Tuesday 1 September

My little girl (she's 2) loves her arts and crafts, we have a craft chest filled with card, paper, paint, crayons, ribbon and glittery stickers.

lilmiztam22 · 27/08/2015 12:27

we bake homemade goodies and play in a den telling stories and singing songs!

peanutmum111 · 27/08/2015 22:23

We build dens 'indoors', lots of colourful blankets, cushions, and then extend our world with SHOPS, Restaurants,
WE MAKE SIGNS, prices, etc.

later they will do a puppet show,

it is wonderful to be entertained by a 3 and 5 year old.

I use the shelves from the bookshelf to make an asault course round the living room

On the last rainy day we had we decided to make use of the rain and make raindrop pictures.
Blob some different colour paints on to card and place outside in the rain. As the rain drops fall on the card and paint they format the patterns.
We got our card and paint all ready and typically the rain stopped just before we put them outside! The kids were actually cheering when it started to rain again half an hour later.

We put on 1950s music and dance! My little girl likes to put on her tutu and twirl, and we have competitions such as "silliest dance" and "most twirls." We sing along to the music, then get her teddies to dance too. Lots of fun on a wet day!

We get an Argos catalogue and I draw a house on a big piece of paper and my little girl cuts out different pieces of furniture and stick them in her house.

We have a makeshift stage and theatre and love to put on performances ... singing, reciting poetry and improvising. It is great for creativity.

We put up a sheet across the under stairs area and the children have torches and food and pretend to have a midnight feast. They also have to be very quiet and only whisper as it is the middle of the night! Everyone enjoys this.

On a rainy day (like today) we get together all the things we have collected/done on our not so rainy days and we make a scrapbook. This year's Summer scrapbook has lots of things stuck in it - cinema tickets, photographs, other attraction tickets, seashells, pictures to name a few. Both of my children decorate it to their tastes and draw & write descriptions of our days out too! This year has been a busy one and now we are planning a wedding and just found out that we have a new niece or nephew on the way so we've included all these things too! :)

Candyperfumegirl · 01/09/2015 15:20

we get the craft box out on rainy days.

piggypoo · 01/09/2015 15:45

We play a huge game of hide and seek, and they when they are all tired from this they pretend to be bugs in a rug, and crash out for an afternoon nap! :)

maria08k · 01/09/2015 17:25

We love to build dens and pretend to be adventurers by setting up soft toy animals.

Ryancrawshaw · 01/09/2015 20:37
