Our delightful British Summers, whilst enjoyable, don't exactly guarantee a long stretch of sunny days. But in true British stiff-upper-lip spirit, we want you to share with us your best family games and activities to enjoy on a rainy summer day.

Little Tiger's fantastic selection of new books is all you need to enjoy a long holiday of great family reading, whether your little 'un is intrigued by the glowing green Poo In The Zoo or wants to know how to get No More Cuddles when it’s all a bit too much.

The best suggestion will win a bundle of five Little Tiger picture books and a Just For Tiny People Teepee (pictured) – a perfect package to enjoy inside or out. Whether it’s board games or den building, we want to hear what you get up to so we can help inspire fellow Mumsnetters for the next rainy day this summer holiday!

You can explore more fabulous books and stories to share at www.littletiger.co.uk and to discover magical hideaways for your own tiny people visit www.justfortinypeople.com - Mumsnetters can get 10% any order at JFTP when they quote Newbigperson10 at the checkout.

Prize Package:
One Magical Teepee from Just for Tiny People
Copies of:
Poo In The Zoo by Steve Smallman and Ada Grey
More! by Tracey Corderoy and Tim Warnes
No More Cuddles by Jane Chapman
Pirates in Pyjamas by Caroline Crowe and Tom Knight
Katie McGinty Wants A Pet by Jenna Harrington and Finn Simpson

This competition is sponsored by Little Tiger, and closes on Tuesday 1 September

My 5 year old loves reading to her baby sister and also writing stories. Baking cakes, crafts, play doh and Frozen sing a longs are also very popular rainy day activities in our house x

We have a box of craft activities which keeps DD entertained for a while. Failing that a big pile of books and her pop up play tent and she's happy. We get her teddy bears and blankets, cushions off the sofa and biscuits and can spend a happy afternoon in there.

krus · 13/08/2015 14:19

We love to do crafts or watch a film :-)

Faith1976 · 13/08/2015 19:04

We like baking cakes, painting and creating, reading books and most importantly planning and building dens with sheets, cushions and chairs

jodiecrossley1 · 18/08/2015 19:56

We like playing monopoly and hide and seek!

KandSWh · 18/08/2015 20:16

Lots of baking and craft here - biscuits, bread, cakes and painting

Princessnicki22 · 18/08/2015 20:26

Can't beat making a den with the sofa cushions.....

KittyKat88 · 18/08/2015 21:08

With a cupboard full of board games, there's plenty to keep my DDs (aged 3 & 5) entertained indoors - the Orchard games are firm favorites! However, it is important that they get some physical activity too, as an outlet - at that point the cushions are thrown from the sofa and they do lots of 'jumping' down onto the cushions. The cushions also double as den walls if they want to build a secret 'play cave' or simply used as a mini trampoline. A game of hide&seek will also help them expend excess energy. For their creative needs, paints, pens and playdough are available too. Stories are always there for calming down time, and cuddling together - usually in their homemade play cave! Wink Smile

My little one loves workbooks (maths, English, science all made fun!)

We also enjoy ball games out in the garden (fireball, naming items as we throw the ball to one another etc etc!)

tia3456 · 18/08/2015 21:18

My children love playing board games, helping do a jigsaw, arts and crafts, baking, daughter likes having her nails done and hair etc, we never have a boring rainy day

BellaWella86 · 18/08/2015 21:33

Hide and Seek
Baking
Snakes and Ladders
Snap
Tent Making (using duvet over table, then reading books in said 'tent')

FeelingSmurfy · 18/08/2015 21:49

We like putting on old clothes and wellies and going for a puddle hunt, we splash in any puddles we find and generally have lots of laughing. When we get home we get dried and in to pjs and then cuddle up with a DVD and hot chocolate. It's a real treat and it feels so wrong because you always say don't splash and everyone hates it when it rains, so the forbidden element makes it all the more exciting.

Kids have had a wee camera all summer to take whatever photos they want, all photos printed out on to just ordinary paper. So our rainy day activities have been letting them make collages out of all their special photos and picture diaries as a keepsake of their summer. They had so much fun that we're going to keep doing it over the year. The collages are lovely hanging in their rooms and are like memory boards

compy99 · 19/08/2015 10:52

we go on nature trails and collect leaves, grasses etc and take photos, we save these for a wet afternoon and then when we can't go out we get out all the bits and pieces we collected and identify them and stick them in a scrap book, it is more fun than it sounds.

Leiajulie · 19/08/2015 14:31

memory card games to keep them educated over the rainy summer days

clarem100 · 19/08/2015 19:54

lots of craft activities

Jade5093 · 19/08/2015 21:19

Getting messy! Baking and painting and sticking.... And paper mâché too!

NerrSnerr · 19/08/2015 21:20

We like using the paddling pool as a ball pit inside. My 1 year old has hours of fun.

lhlee62 · 19/08/2015 22:10

I have loads of arts and crafts stuff, painting, printing, sticking and jewellery making. She is only 3 and she is very good at threading beads on to shoe laces. We sometimes have pj mornings where we don't get dressed until lunch time watching TV and snuggling in bed :D

lhlee62 · 19/08/2015 22:17

I have a wide range of arts and crafty bits, for painting, sticking and jewellery making. My daughter is getting quite good at threading beads on to shoe laces. I also like to bake with my daughter, she likes to help stir, but she makes quite a mess!!

Maiyakat · 21/08/2015 13:29

DD loves to build houses for her teddies with Mega Blocks (I'm not sure they'd pass building regs!) or a train track network. Her other love is to make the longest traffic jam possible...

Theimpossiblegirl · 21/08/2015 13:41

Den building with chairs, sheets, clothes airers etc. Fill them with cushions and you can drag the fun out for hours, sometimes even overnight!

sweir1 · 22/08/2015 11:10

We like to boil eggs and paint them as a family. And turn them in to little characters

Tkw2014 · 23/08/2015 23:03

I keep a box of art and craft things for rainy days as my 2 love making things. Also baking is great fun together.

JoCar72 · 25/08/2015 21:31

I don't think you can really beat baking with the kids on a rainy day? It's time consuming and messy but so much fun as it sparks their imagination, improves their confidence and you get the bonus of mixing art with maths so is very educational ;)...but most of all it is a very bonding experience (as it's often so sticky!!)
