we are not practising Christians, but I would like my children to be familiar with the key stories from the Bible (and would have same attitude to Greek and Roman myths, other major religions) and want to find something well written that will hold their interest. Any ideas? Both girls have enjoyed a book of myths from all around the world and like listening to stories/reading stories

There is a set of 12 (I think) soft back books, 6 Old Testament (Noah's Ark, Joseph, Jonah and the Whale....) and 6 New Testament, for £9.99 from The Book People. Simple, lovely illustrations. Perfect for that age group.

We have a children's bible published by lion. The problem with some of the stand alone stories is they're not accurate, e.g there was no whale and eve didn't have an apple. But I'm a practising Christian so this bothers me. This bible also has historical background pages which are good, like what Romans ate etc
Happy reading!
