Could anyone recommend good books explaining to 6 year olds concepts such as

Royalty / aristocracy - we have the Ladybird book on Kings and Queens. Not keen on Horrible History which is a little difficult.

Politics - is what is a prime minister, what does a government do, what are elections, some countries people vote, other countries are dictatures.

6 year old absolutely fascinated since visit to Central London. Lots of questions but can't seem to find anything ....

Have you tried the library? They usually have that sort of thing in the children's library.

My husband brought home lots of knights and kings-type of books from the pound shop.
There was a very good picture book about The Election by Eleanor Levenson. DS loved it. He is 7. He wanted to come out canvassing and we had to explain all the parties to him.
I tried the Marcia Williams books with him, but all the infidelities and general sleeping around shocked him. Now he reads Horrible Histories.

We've a good book on the government. I can't remember what it's called but I'll check.

SavoyCabbage · 15/08/2015 12:44

It's called 'Who's in charge?' And it's by Andrew Marr.

This is turning into an experiment into predictive texting.

DD enjoyed the Accidental prime Minister - fictional kids book, but explains the (absurdities of!) the process.

Oh (rather belated) thank you for these tips. I'll check out the titles you've all given.
Didn't realise Andrew Marr had written something for children.

I know this is an old thread but it's that time again - were any of these any good?
