Picture books for 6yo

DS2 is nearly six and quite capable of reading chapter books, but still likes to have picture books at bedtime. I'm after some recommendations for any that are good for slightly older children - he finds a lot of his old collection (Julia Donaldson type thing) a bit babyish. Any ideas? He loves funny stuff like Stuck, or anything with toilet humour.

Winnie the witch chapter books are great for this age. Or the horrid Henry early reader books - they have colourful pictures in them.

What about the Mini Gray version of Jim , the Hilaire Belloc cautionary tale. The DCs love that one. It's a bit grisly so they enjoy that.

Tractionman is good, also Tuesday by David Wiesner and The Yellow Balloon - these two are literally pictures only, so you have to create the story yourselves. (Or maybe I mean relate rather than create)

There are some beautiful ones.

Have a look a picture books by Elys Dolan, such as Nuts in Space, plenty of humour, almost a cartoon style format. Very good.

The Rabbit and The Shadow is divided in to small chapters.

Mr Minscule and the Whale is perfect for older ones too.

Shirley Hughes' collection books are quite good. We have the Big Alfie Out of Doors book and the Trotter Street Collection.

The Happy Families books are quite good.

My girls both love the Picture Puffin books - especially the Witch's Dog books. Not quite a picture book but not quite chapter book either!
