Books about 'naughty' children

ASeriesOfComplexQuestions · 24/03/2015 10:27

My DC love Horrid Henry, Dennis the Menace and My Naughty Little Sister. Can anyone recommend any other books about 'naughty' children that we might enjoy. They're 7, 8 and 10.

TIA

Dirty Bertie?
Amelia Jane books (I think that's what they're called- Enid blyton- it's a naughty doll that comes to life)

Astrid Lindgren's Emil series of books is a favourite with us.

I was going to say The Elephant and the bad Baby, but they're a bit old!

Revolting Rhymes? You're a Bad Man, Mr Gumm?

Those Dreadful Children
The Naughtiest Girl in the School

Both Enid Blyton, both somewhat dated, and both loved by my children.

Oh, and Just William

crappyday · 24/03/2015 10:42

The worst witch? Not naughty more accident prone.

Grantaire · 24/03/2015 10:44

Fearsome Tales for Fiendish Kids is good. The CITV programme Grizzly Tales For Gruesome Kids is based on it.

George's Marvellous Medicine
Turbulent Term of Tyke Tyler

*Tiler

I loved The Elephant and the Bad Baby when I was little Grin. We had it when they were little too, but it's been lost somewhere. I must get another copy though (also have a 3 year old who would love it).

Just William and The Worst Witch DC1 and 2 have read, but DC3 would love now I think. Thanks for the suggestion.

I haven't read any of the others so will get looking on Amazon and have a trip to the library. 'Those Dreadful Children' sounds about right Grin.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Any more welcome too!

My DS1 likes this kind of book too. He would recommend Captain Underpants.

Also, how about Pippi Longstocking?

Leeds2 · 24/03/2015 13:57

Vulgar the Viking series. Can't remember the author!

Takver · 24/03/2015 18:07

Jennings? He doesn't mean to be naughty, exactly, but . . . Grin

And yyy to Tike Tiler and Cpt Underpants.

Pipbin · 24/03/2015 18:09

If you can find them the Little Pete stories. They might be rather old fashioned now.

TheRealMaryMillington · 24/03/2015 18:10

Pippi Longstocking - naughty AND cool.

merrymouse · 24/03/2015 18:11

E Nesbit five children and it series - they are always getting bored and getting into trouble.

NerrSnerr · 24/03/2015 18:15

The Ramona books?

meglet · 24/03/2015 18:20

might be a bit young for them but 'we are wearing out the naughty step' is adorable. spirited children driving their lp mum to the edge of a breakdown Hmm .

Morepeasplease · 26/03/2015 09:50

Iggy and Me series by Jenny Valentine, bit of an up to date version of my naughty little sister, but better and funny and brilliant!

Leeds2 · 26/03/2015 18:25

I love Iggy & Me!

DiamondTrees1 · 30/03/2015 22:55

Beezus and Romona is one of my all time favourite childhood books. My mum read the book to me and I also had it on audiotape so at one point I knew all the words!
the whole series of books (but particularly the fisrt one- Beezus and Romona) had me in stitches... and my mum liked them too!

Calfon · 31/03/2015 20:33

The Mr Gum books by Andy Stanton are hilarious and Mr Gum is very, very naughty. They will love themWink Wink

I was going to ask the same question. I'd recommend the Melanie Brown stories by Pamela Oldfield, we had an audiobook of this from the library, then bought the book as both my 8 and 6 year olds loved it.
