What are your 7-10 year old daughter's favourite authors?

As my name suggests I'm not a Mum, but a Brownie leader. Next term we're doing a book related badge and I'd like to write to a few authors and get some ideas of who the girls are likely to be interested in reading. Can any of you helped by letting me know who your daughters like to read please?

David Walliams, Jaqueline Wilson & Roald Dahl.

Oh. One of those is dead Blush Didn't read OP properly!

Dd2 is 9 and loves Michael Morpurgo and the Harry Potter books. Also likes the Tom Gates series by Liz Pichon.

Dd1 (11 now) was a big fan of Jacqueline Wilson and the Mr Gum books by Andy Stanton.

Thanks! I immediately thought of Roald Dahl as I loved him at that age, but sadly not possible. I'll recommend him to the girls though :) Jacqueline Wilson also on my list, loved her too!

Oh, and I listen to readers in years 5 and 6, and they are pretty much all mad for David Walliams right now.

DD adores the Goth Girl and Ottline books - so Chris Riddell

Also loves Neil Gaiman's books for children

JW and JKR bound to have sufficient staff for a stock reply!

FrChewieLouie · 31/01/2015 23:18

Ooh, yes, Neil Gaiman - dd2 loved Fortunately The Milk.

BlueChampagne · 01/02/2015 22:17

Second Chris Riddell. How about Caroline Lawrence, of Roman Mysteries fame?

Medoc · 01/02/2015 22:54

Andy Stanton writes back!

Cressida Cowell
Lauren Child (Ruby Redfort series)
Terry Pratchett (The Bromeliad is suitable, and the Tiffany Aching books)

I'm afraid Enid Blyton is deceased!

Atinuke's Anna Hibiscus books are absolutely lovely, probably nearer the lower end of your age group but dd liked them up to say age 9.
