Books as a christening present?

My friend is having her three DCs christened this month. I'd like to get them a book each instead of christening type presents (in part due to budget!).

They're 2 boys age 5&7 and a girl who is 16 months.

What would you recommend?

I often give books, nice hardback versions of children's classics like the Little Princess, Treasure Island, A;lice In wonderland etc

Guess how much I love you' by Sam McBratney is a lovely book. When I first read it it was so sweet I cried and I am not one to cry much

Alternatively, since they are Christening presents, consider giving children's bibles. We have a beautiful pop up /lift the flap book of bible stories.

A Winnie the Pooh book. Or a Shirley Hughes anthology.

If you go in Waterstones, they usually have a section marked "presents," or some such, in the children's books which might give you some ideas.

I think books make a perfect Christmas present.

For the older ones, maybe a Harry Potter book would be good?

Maps by Aleksandra and Daniel Mizielinska is a favourite for christening presents, as well as 'oh, the places you'll go' by Dr Seuss which is perfect. The Book Depository had a 20th anniversary hardback edition a few weeks ago which was about £7.

How about Aesops Fables for the boys - beautiful pictures, can be read at bedtime and there's always a moral to the story that you can talk about.
