Books for 9 year old ds, advanced reader

I am looking for a new book series for ds to get stuck into, his recent favourites are the Skulduggery Pleasant series and Chronicles of Ancient Darkness.

He is 9 but a good reader and not particularly sensitive.

I was considering the Ink trilogy, Alex Rider or the Maximum Ride (not sure if that's right, by James Patterson) but have no experience of any of those.

How about the Percy Jackson series?

Alex rider series is fantastic. I have just got ds a book by Robert muchamore called maximum security which he is enjoying and is part of a series. Although I got it from the works so not sure if I can get the rest of the series ??

I would not recommend the Robert Muchamore series for a 9 year old. There is a warning on the back of the books to say they are not suitable for younger readers as the content is aimed at teenagers. I would recommend Artemis Fowl, Infinity Drake, Itch, Percy Jackson, Lockwood & Co and Knightley & Sons.

I love it when they get into a series. Have just recommended the Edge Chronicles over on another thread. Lots of those to keep him going. Has he read Charlie Bone? Brotherband?
Eoin Colfer is great, also Philip Reeve; I didn't particularly like Alex Rider, but Ds1 did. History Keepers (3 so far) was also loved by Ds

Ds who is 10 has also enjoyed Percy Jackson, HIVE, and Artimis Fowl series. Are you also starting to look at some more classics? Ds has enjoyed things like 5 children & it, for eg - but the vocab is dated so they are best read with someone I think.

DS1 is enjoying the Immortal Nicholas Flammel series and loves the Kane chronicles. He also really enjoyed mortal engines.
