Welome everyone. Dormy lists on the board as usual and I know you are all hoping like mad that you are all not in the same dormitory as Mary Lou. But only some of you can be the un lucky ones and the rest of us will have to make do with each other.

Oh, and the good news is that Joey has sabotaged discovered something wrong with the roof on her house and believe it or not, the only property available to rent is right next door to the school.

Shit Hurrah, lucky us.

Got to go. Matey wants me for unpacking.

TA muchleyibraey pree.

I tell you what I bet cherry Christie would have some unresolved issues for a therapist to entangle in later life. That's of course if she escaped from Vendell!

I think Thekla and Betty Wynne set up an alternative school on the other end of the platz. It's hugely successful, coeducational and multi faith!

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 04/09/2014 12:58

Nah. Thekla and Betty bided (bade?) their time a little better and managed to get the original and best location on the banks of the Tiernsee. They give a friendly wave every time the Maynard clan pop up with their lime green and cream minibus during the summer holidays, and loudly comment that Joey is looking like a house-end and ought to lay off the lemon biscuits.

This explains why the various daughters of Juliet O'Hara, Con Mackenzie and and May Carthew never arrive at the Chalet School...

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 04/09/2014 13:15

Oh! I have great, great glee. You must all guess who wears "a pretty lime-green woollen frock" in one of the later books. I will give you one clue: it's not Joey and it's not Con Maynard either.

Vintagejazz · 04/09/2014 13:26

OOAO?

OP posts:
DeWee · 04/09/2014 13:32

Is it Miss Farrars?

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 04/09/2014 13:37

Nope, and nope...

Vintagejazz · 04/09/2014 13:43

Miss Annersley?

OP posts:
SignYourNameInBrownAndFlame · 04/09/2014 13:45

Rosalie Dene?

DeWee · 04/09/2014 13:57

It's not Rosalind Lilley is it? I seem to remember her smoothing down a woollen dress, obviously meant to be so much more suitable that Joans. Grin

Vintagejazz · 04/09/2014 14:09

Or maybe Joan Baker's after she'd turned over a new leaf and sobbed herself to sleep??

OP posts:
RobinHumphries · 04/09/2014 14:18

Elisaveta opening the summer Fayre? Or Erica Standish?

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 04/09/2014 14:23

OOAOVJ got it! It is indeed Miss Annersley. I cannot picture this ensemble.

Vintagejazz · 04/09/2014 14:31

I bet Joey knitted it for her for Christmas. Poor Hilda.

DeWee · 04/09/2014 14:33

I think the words"pretty" and "lime green" put together form a contradiction. Or is it called an oxymoron?

I remember clicking on an auction site (not ebay) at a description of "Fantastic beautiful new jacket".
I nearly reported to trading standards when the photo showed a lime green fleece clearly bobbled from washing and not beautiful even new. Smile

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 04/09/2014 14:42

I'll have you know that a quick google for "pretty lime green" returns 215 000 results DeWee.

Can't you just picture Joey haring over into the staff room with her arms full of endless lime green knitting and breezily announcing "hello! I've another present for one of you lucky folk!", and the mistresses therein choking violently into their nectar-like coffee and hoping they're not the chosen recipient?

EatingMyWords · 04/09/2014 18:58

Joey never actually wore lime green did she? It was jade green she liked. She just made it for other people Grin

Thanks LibraryPree.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 04/09/2014 20:30

Maybe she thought it the best tone to set off her own, so her many minions ought to wear it at all times?

EatingMyWords · 04/09/2014 20:46

Sounds about right. I can see Joey loving the idea of having minions!

DeWee · 04/09/2014 21:03

"Disgusting lime green" yields 9 870 results
"horrible lime green" gives 48 500 results
"ugly lime green" has 98 400 results
"Revolting lime green" has, surprisingly, only 1 260 results Grin

Visions of Joey asking the staff to all wear lime green when they visit her so her jade green outfits stood out. Grin

hels71 · 04/09/2014 21:28

I have just realised that next year the CS will be 90! Maybe some celebrations need to be planned!!!

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 04/09/2014 21:32

"Pretty lime green" brings up someone planning a wedding in lime green. Maybe they would like to borrow to Maynard minibus?

Ooh lovely hels more celebrations! Shall we sing under someone's window?

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 05/09/2014 08:09

Green wouldn't have suited Jo either bring dark haired and pale skinned,

She would suite reds and Mediterranean colours.

She spilled her coffee laughing after Chaz and mike boot polished themselves onto her old jade green cotton.

I always liked her matching clip on hat flowers myself.

I wasn't a twin set in lime green and 12 children. Who doesn't.?

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 05/09/2014 08:18

I want not wasnt!

By the way too lazy to google but when Laila is ill con goes to visit her and tells Jack she is missing parsing as if it's a lesson.
WTAF is it.

IrenetheQuaint · 05/09/2014 08:21

I think parsing is grammatical analysis - as in, parse this sentence into its component parts (verb, subject, direct object, adverb etc). Surprised they had whole lessons dedicated to it, though!

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 05/09/2014 09:04

Thank you Irene that makes sense.

In the green theme Jo dyed her face green didn't she. Grin
