My daughter is an able reader but am struggling to get her to read to herself. She loves being read to - Malory Towers, Dahl, walliams etc - but she is not choosing to read to herself really. She loved Violet Mackerel (sorry if spelling is wrong!) and has enjoyed the Brownie Friends series and the Tiara Club series. Needing some inspiration! Rainbow magic is a no no but she likes books with a picture on either every page/every other page And font that is not too small. She is not really fussed for animal stories either. Any ideas anyone?....

How about Oliver & the Seawigs

Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman too is a fab illustrated chapter book.

I've just given my 7 year old some of the up younger Judy blumes that I remember enjoying and she has loved them. Super fudge and something about soupy Saturday.

The Clarice Bean books, dd still loves them at 15! And the family at one end street.

My dd loved the Anne Fine books for younger readers (e.g. www.annefine.com/books/killercat.php)

She also loved the Nina books, which are a slightly higher reading level (e.g. www.randomhouse.co.uk/editions/nina-and-the-kung-fu-adventure/9781448102181)

My DD loved all the Ottoline books, Fortunately the Milk and Goth Girl.
She's loving all the Atticus Claw series ATM. We have also read this four times - the illustrations are gorgeous and the characters great.
