Another name this book please.

About two children I think on an island together, lots of stuff about how they cobbled things together to survive. I don't think there was any romance.

Vague I know, anyone have an idea on the name?

There may have been mention of whalebone for building a shelter, may have misremembered that.

Could it be 'South Sea Adventure' by Willard Price?

I am pretty sure it was a boy and a girl, as I think I felt my first 'stirrings' of youthful love as a BOY in my class gave it to me to read and I was about 12

Blue Lagoon - there was a film which sounds similar with Brooke Shields - it may have been based on a book

Sounds like Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. They were brother & sister who got stranded somehow, remember the whalebone shelter bit and the sister ended up taming a wolf?? I'd love to get hold of it again - must have made an impression on me that I remember the title & author after so many years!

The brother dies in Island of the Blue Dolphins, and the sister is alone for years, until she is eventually rescued. IIRC it was loosely based on a true story too. She makes herself a beautiful skirt out of cormorant feathers, and jewellery out of abalone shells.
