Fiction Books for DS 15 with learning difficulties

My son has dyspraxia and SPD and I believe dyslexia as well. I saw on here that someone asked for books for their daughter and wondered if you can help. His reading is a little immature and due to anxiety issues nothing too scary but he has really enjoyed David Walliams and I want to get something similar. Any suggestions? Many thanks

What sort of reading age is he if that's not an inappropriate question (sorry if so)? If you can give a rough idea (sorry not familiar with DW's books) I'm sure people could give some good suggestions. What kind of things does he like? Fantasy/sci fi? Sometimes escapist stuff helps people who are a bit put off by reading for one reason and another to connect with the story rather than the mechanism of reading iyswim.

We teach literacy to adults with mild learning difficulties at work who didn't engage with school and are functionally illiterate. YA/older children's fantasy stuff is great.

So many teen books seem to be adventure/scary or issue related - has he read Wimpy Kid? They are easy and fun and lighthearted.

I recently read Rooftoppers by Katherine around ell which is beautifully written and has a happy ending. Nothing to scary. Quite lyrical though so may be harder for a less confident reader to follow.

Have a look at lovereading4kids as they recommend similar books and have David Walliams' books on their site.

Thank you for the suggestions and reading age is around 13- 14 as he is not so bad at the reading, it is the content and understanding that is more the problem.

Have you had a look at the Skulduggery series by Derek Landy?? They are incredibly popular with boys in particular at the moment. Bit of a fantasy element to it - so not sure if that would appeal?? Huge advantage is that if he gets hooked ... there are PLENTY in the series!!

Other Brother by Simon French is great read.
