She's read Emily Rodha and likes books about magic. Help!

Dianna Wynne Jones - Howls moving castle or Castle in the Air. I think I read those when 8 or 9.

Thank you

Books I loved between about 8 and 10, all with magical aspects:

Susan Cooper's "The Dark is Rising" series
Lucy M Boston's "Green Knowe" series
Joan Aiken's "Wolves of Willoughby Chase" etc and Dido Twite alternative histories.

Ophelia and the Marvellous Boy by Karen Foxlee has got a nice amount of adventure & fantasy in it

Dd started on the Harry Potter books last year when she was 8. Also the Tiffiny Aching books by Terry Pratchett are marvelous, really good, but not the last book until she is older because the themes grow more adult as Tiffiny grows up.

She also really enjoyed the Green Dragon series by Rosemary Manning. I was so pleased as these were my favorites as a child.

Chris D'lacey last dragon chronicles are what she's reading at the mo, though they did make her sob! Something about a squirrel. Confused

Holly Webb - the Rose ones, Lily and there's some animal magic ones too

Glitterwings Academy - Titania Woods. Think cross between rainbow fairies and Harry Potter.

Famous Five etc. Magic Faraway tree. Mine has read Malory Towers too but I hope it went over her head.

Ruby Redfort - Lauren Child.

Lucky star collection.

Heidi, Charlotte's web.

Daisy by Kes Gray

Charlotte Sometimes is excellent. Moondial (think it would have to be second hand though as I think it is out of print) both are magical.
ballet shoes, swish of the curtain, Chalet School, Malory Towers, Twins at St Claires and so on.

You'll be needing some more soon:

Goth Girl (Chris Ridell)
Operation Bunny (Sally Gardner)
The Last Dragonslayer (Jasper Fforde)

Apparently you can start the Harry Potters series at 8. It seems a bit early for me but my children are smaller so I may be surprised when they turn 8 ???
I just saw she has read every book here ... wow !
