If DD loved Hunger Games, what else would she like?

DD, 11 has just finished the Hunger Games trilogy and absolutely loved it. Wondered if anyone could suggest any other books that might take her fancy? She normally loves the diary style books so was delighted when she got so engrossed in hunger games which is a bit more appropriate for reading ability. Would appreciate any suggestions which I can pass on to Dd to look for in the shops tomorrow.

She might enjoy the Alex Rider books by Anthony Horowitz.

Hi, although I'm not an 11 year old I loved the Hunger Games. I'm also a big fan of the young adult writer Maggie Stiefvater. Although her books aren't dystopian like the Hunger Games they are equally as engaging with similar characterisation IMO. The Scorpio Races is fab - set on an alternate Celtic island, a beautiful and exciting story. She has also written a trilogy called The Wolves of Mercy Falls which I really enjoyed. I think the first book is called Shiver. And she has a new series out called The Raven Boys. I haven't read it yet but it's had great reviews.

I second the Chaos Walking trilogy. I read them myself after my son insisted I HAD TO. Brilliant!

I can second the Gone series by Michael Grant too.

My DD loved the hunger games, and is also addicted to the Percy Jackson books.
She has read the Roman Mysteries, loads of Jacqueline Wilson books, everything by David Walliams, and the How to train your dragon books. She's currently reading one of the Terry Pratchett kids books. She wants me to get her he Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy books to read, as one of her friends enjoyed them

Try Terri Terry's Slated series... Utterly mesmerising... My son also likes any malorie Blackman books, the fine series and the Alex rider series

Weirdly I hated the Chaos Walking series! Goes to show how reading is subjective. I also wasn't fussed on Divergent

I loved the hunger games and I think on recommendation of someone on here I think I found the unwind series (neal shusterman) which I'm currently reading. Children of the dust, about survival after nuclear war, and How I live now, similar ish theme and recently made into a film, both very good.

There is a book whose name I can't remember she might like.
The basic plot is that the earth shifts on its axis and the days keep getting longer. It's told from the perspective of a female teen though, and is much better than I'm describing!

The Age of Miracles

DD1 (11) enjoyed the Hunger Games too. She's just finished Gemma Malley's trilogy which starts with The Declaration. Also recommended is the Power of Five series by Anthony Horowitz.

Don't read Divergent you will be left in floods of salt water once Tris sacrifices her life. WHY WRITE A BOOK TO KILL OFF THE MAIN CHARACTER?!

AND WHY DID VOLDEMORT DIE IN HARRY POTTER TOO HE WAS SO MISUNDERSTOOD, THE POOR GUY. HE WAS REALLY QUITE SWEET DEEP DOWN.

Philip Reeve's Mortal Engine series was much lived by DS1 after he read the Hunger Games books. There are 4 + prequels.
