Dd6 can read (average y2 reader) but is still keen on picture books. Can anyone suggest a picture book with flaps or a difference for her age please?

Agree that the Usborne lift-the-flap ones are good, but for actual paper engineering you want Robert Sabuda's books

Peter Pan
Dinosaurs
Wizard of Oz

yes, robet sabuda is wonderful
