Would you let your 11yo read a horror story?

He wants to read 'Dolly' by Susan Hill. Its a ghost story. Would you let your child read it?

I don't know it, or how scary it is. DD enjoyed reading ghost stories at that age; DH gave her HP Lovecraft which put her off.

It's not very scary. I think an 11yo could handle it.

Thank you both. I had bought it for him. Skimmed read it... Thought it was ok. But someone else said I can't believe you bought that for him, which made me wobble!

Susan Hill hasn't written lots of books. Probably the most famous book is woman in black, scary but not heart stoppingly so for an 11 yo, although it might depend on what they read already.
