In What the Ladybird Heard by Julia Donaldson, is there (or is there not) a ladybird on the front and back endpapers? i.e. the whole farmyard scene that appears at the beginning and at the end of the book.

My children (and I) NEED to know. . .

Please help!

I'll check and get back to you.

According to DH I have superpowers when it comes to stuff like this. I think it is to do with my job, which involves spotting tiny abnormalities in a sea of normal!

Thank you!

I think what has happened is that the publishers put their "find the ladybird on EVERY page" banner on for the paperback edition, not realising that children take this very VERY seriously, and that to them, the front and back endpapers in the paperback are "pages". In the HB edition it probably doesn't seem so odd.

Or perhaps there are 2 very very tiny ladybirds that we have all missed on the many many occasions we've looked. . .

hmm well i am looking and i can't see it...

Buy some ladybird stickers. Secretly add them to end pages. Surprise and delight your children.

Can't see any here (hardback version)

NoSquirrels · 07/11/2013 10:32

Thanks for your help - at least I am reassured that no one else can see them either. Think they missed a trick there!

(Thinking about the sticker idea . . . not sure we could get any tiny enough, but perhaps I can doctor it with a pen . . .)

Have just had to get my copy and check - definitely has a ladybird on front and back of the paperback version, very obvious too...
