Thank you for the lovely book. We received it today. This afternoon we read 'When Polly jumped Over the Moon' and 'The Sheriff of Rusty Nail' (As chosen by Ds). Puzzling and amusing reactions to the latter story in particular. (He indicated that hens should not be on the pages as 'There are no farms in the West' and that he wanted 'a pig to ride' and on one page there were 'dinosaur footprints'...He seemed very taken with the story to say the least.) I was interested to see that the collection is not just for toddlers but for quite a diverse age range. Made sense when I saw the illustrations for 'The Night Thief and the Moon'. Definitely not for a young toddler. Quite scary illustrations. Will have to read that one on my own first.

I only wish I could write or illustrate as the collaborators have done in this collection.

IS a very attractive treasury book. not to big, I like the modest format size and the number of pages is about right, so this is not a weighty tome. I think its book to buy to give as a present. stories for reading aloud, not stories for newly independent readers.

The illustrations are charming. If I had not read it in the intro I would not have guessed that the pictures were commissioned from new illustrators to go with the text from unpublished writers.

I will be gifting this book to one of my nieces. my 7 year old son would not be very interested in the story content, hes a bit beyond tales of toddlers wanting to do things for them selves. But I've not yet decided which niece, the 18 month old so she has a story book of her own or the elder sister , who at 4 is probably just the right age for these tales.

I received my copy of this book on Saturday and it is lovely. Beautiful illustrations and all the stories we have read, have been well written and compelling. My son is 4 and has enjoyed the 6 stories we have read. I'm looking forward to reading the rest.

Thanks very much for my copy it is charming. I haven't read all the stories yet but those I have read are really good and I love the illustrations. The selection seems quite varied which is nice in an anthology, the whole thing seems very well put together. Now I just need to decide whether to give it to my 5 year old at Christmas or gift it to somebody else.

Another here who agrees that this is such a wonderful book. Not too many stories and a good variation with some fabulous illustrations
I love the dust cover with the stars and sleeping child .... makes you want to open the book and start reading immediately.

Thank you so much for our copy of bedtime stories. What a lovely book and great illustrations throughout the book. I have decided to give this to my daughter for Christmas but I think she will love the stories and especially the illustrations. I love the fact it has 10 stories that are all that little bit different and just enough to read before bed. I look forward to her opening this at Christmas and I'm sure she'll want to read it over and over again.

As an aspiring childrens book illustrator I particularly love the diversity of illustrator styles. Will read this to the DD this weekend and post a review shortly.

Good collection of stories with interesting twists. I read about half to my almost 3 year old, but, whereas the themes i.e. cow trying to jump over the moon or a toddler dressing herself were suitable for her age, a lot of the language and the density of prose versus pictures was perhaps aimed at an older child, so I had to work to keep her attention. The stories I have read so far are of a high calibre and it is a nice gift to receive. It would be best suited to 4/5+ range I think or a family with an older child too for some of stories.

Lovely collection of stories and the illustrations really catch the eye of my DD. We can have a different one each night and not get bored starting back to the beginning again. Really enjoying reading it at bedtimes.

Beautiful, beautiful book. Our 4.8yo loves it - and was very excited to receive a copy. As soon as it arrived she read the first 2 stories, and has had more at bedtimes. I agree with a PP that it is aimed, not at toddlers, but at a slightly older child. There is a lot of text on each page. However, once your child has that reading/listening stamina, it is fantastic and nobody would guess that these are stories from unpublished authors and illustrators.
