Help me remember this book!

[Impala1967]

It's been bugging me forever. The main plot was that there was a rocking chair which could fly (I think) and two children, a girl and a boy, and an elf (or some such magical creature) would go on adventures on it. I think the rocking chair was kept in a shed....?

I loved the adventures they had.

My dad used to read them to me so fond memories here too. I knew it was written by someone obvious iyswim but could think who. I do like a bit of Enid
