My son has been loving famous five - especially when it gets exciting towards the end BUT they're just about scary enough for him - any more and he wouldn't like it

What can we read next - similar adventure/excitement level and not too scary ??

How old is he?

101 Dalmatians?
Secret 7?

Presume he has read the other Nesbit series' - Five Find Outers / Mystery books etc?
What about the How to Train your Dragon books if he hasn't read them - very different, but probably similar excitement/scariness level.

has he read the Enid Blyton Adventure Series? Ship of Adventure, Castle of Adventure etc? I always preferred them to the Famous Five or Secret Seven so they might be worth a try.
