Another can you identify this book please thread

I keep trying to recall name of young teens book that I read probably in 1980s...

Think main character called Persephone,family lived above a shop and she had attic bedroom with views into another house
Think she had numerous clever siblings and there was a Jane Austen connection...
Does it ring any bells with anyone??

Don't think the book had anything to go with Greek mythology other than siblings had names such as Cordelia,maybe Alexander?
They lived above a chip shop I think but it was a recent move,father lost his job or something.
