Ok, I remember practically zero info about this book but it's tormenting me.

  • Protagonist is a girl aged about seven or eight from a largish family
  • There is a change of circumstances
  • The family move from the 'ggod' side of the town side to the other side which is much less modern.
  • The house has a red roof. Think this is significant - can't remember why, though.

I would have been aged maybe age 8 or 9 when I read this, around the time I read What Katy Did Next, so mid 1980s. I lived in Ireland but I don't think it was an Irish book.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease, can you help?

No but it sounds lovely.

Family at Red Roofs? By Enid Blyton. Don't remember much about the plot but it's that sort of thing.

Love the Family at Red Roofs, if it is that. Girl is called Molly. There's a funny sort of housekeeper who I think is called something like Birdie.

Ohh Red Roofs.
There are enough bedrooms for all the children to have a room each but Mum wants to keep a room for the maid or guests?
