my poorly DS (2.5) spent literally hours today looking at and talking about this book...

it was brilliant! we were both getting quite fed up and bored as he's been ill for a few days now and I couldn't bear to listen to any more television so, as he was on the mend a bit I was trying to distract him... we looked at this and chatted about it for most of the afternoon! It has already worked well on plane journeys etc and it is also a great one for him to read with other people as they point out different things /use it in different ways!

just wanted to say that really, but also if any one has any similar books they can recommend that would be brilliant as we do a lot of travelling

My dd (3) loves that book too. Every time I read it, I seem to notice a new picture on one of the pages and you're right, it prompts endless conversation! My dh is rather bored of it though! "Just Imagine" by the same author is also meant to be good, but I haven't got round to getting a copy of that one yet.

I think there is a sequel if you can call it that called Just Imagine.

We love You Choose too, our copy is all battered. Ds1 (5) will sometimes look at it with DS2 (2) which is nice. They do argue over it though - "you can't have the sausages! I am having them!"

There is a book by the same illustrator called Cheese and Tomato Spider, not quite the same or having as much scope but there is an element of interactivity - combining top and bottom pictures - and my two find it hilarious.

Also 'Would you rather" (can't remember the author). Not so many picture to look at but similar choosing storyline.

It's been one of DS1's (4.8) favourite books for a couple of years and he loves sharing it with his brother (2) now.

DD picks it time after time for her bedtime story and we have DD chooses, mummy choose and both choose nights as well as what do you think teddy would choose Grin

We received our book free in the library bags.

bluelights yes I like that game too, or what would uncle Mark (my brother) choose, etc etc.... I especially love it when he picks out a nice flouncy dress for them or something Grin

I am enjoying all the other suggestions, should keep us entertained for quite a few more long journeys Smile

We have had it for years. DD is now 5 so will pick all the weird or strange ones for what her sisters would like or which person she thinks we all look like.

Have you tried the "that's not my" range?

Just imagine is great fun as well. It's got imagining yourself as different animals, or being really big or really small.

Would you rather I remember from my own childhood as being a bit scary in places for little ones - I think one of the choices involved being squashed by an anaconda or sat on by a hippo...

We also love would you rather linspins I think it's John Birmingham?? It is a bit scary, but my dc do love deciding between the options, I love their reasoning!!

Yes you choose was a favourite although we've got so many books now it's been relegated!
Ds is 3.5 and loves Topsy and Tim now.
Usborne also do great lift the flap ones - at around 2, he loved the cars one - that has been looked at so many many times!!! Lots and lot of little flaps so plenty to look at.

My boys have both adored PANTS and MORE PANTS both by the same illustrator - Nick Sharratt - as YOU CHOOSE. It just seems to hit the spot for little ones around that age.
We also love THE BIG BOOK OF MY WORLD by Kali Stileman which has lots to see and do on every page and is perfect for toddlers... and the LITTLE RED TRAIN series by Ben Blathwayt is fabulous for pictures to pore over - so many animals, vehicles and other things to spot on every page! Smile

oh yes, little red train, I forgot about that, we read one at my mother in laws house and I thought the detail in the pictures was great. think I've got one lurking in my amazon wish list (trying to limit how many books I buy each month Blush ) thanks jelly
