Looking for Christmas inspiration for DS, 11. He loves books that are funny - currently enjoying David Walliam's Gangsta Granny - so I'm looking for some new authors/books please. TIA.

Have you considered Terry Pratchett?

No I hadn't and his books look great - thank you!

Skulduggery Pleasant maybe, unless he's a sensitive type - they have supernatural magic and stuff in, and people do get killed/attack each other and suchlike. Four of my DCs would be fine, but one would be upset so you'd have to judge them for your DS iyswim.

I've launched a new website called www.booksteensandmagazines.com and it reviews books and magazines for children aged 11+ - hopefully you can find something on there that will appeal.

Have you seen Terry Deary Fire Thief series? My DD enjoyed them here though I am not sure what age they are aimed at.She is not a gilry girl reader - Anthony Horowitz is worth a look. She has been reading a Time Riders book recently.
